Tom Young has designed timepieces and other functional wood products made by T & K Young since 1975. They were sold at juried retail craft shows in the Midwest and East as far as Cape Cod until the close of the July 1998 Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair.
The launch of tkyoung.com on August 10th of 1998 marked the end of 23 years of participation in retail shows. It also marked the end of production of all products with the exception of hardwood hourglass cases. At the wholesale shows that Tom continued doing through February of 2004 Tom became known as “Tom the Hourglass Man”.

WEDDING INVITATION KEEPSAKE HOURGLASS
As the Bride and Groom you can personalize your Wedding Hourglass in a variety of ways. Choosing is easy.
All Wedding Hourglasses are laser engraved. Choose your entire wedding invitation, your wedding vows, or another personal message to be laser engraved on one hourglass end-cap. Your names and wedding date will be laser engraved on the other side, creating a stunning keepsake Wedding Hourglass.
The glass in the Basic Wedding Hourglass runs approximately 60 minutes. It will be mounted in the solid hardwood case that you select standing 9 inches tall. Your laser engraved message of choice is included.
I can provide those who are planning to do a Sand Ceremony rather than lighting a Unity Candle with a kit that has everything that you will need. Following your wedding simply return the kit to me. I will calibrate the running time, seal, and mount the hourglass in the case that you have selected.
In addition to everything included with the basic Wedding Hourglass, the Sand Ceremony Wedding Hourglass also includes a kit containing the empty hourglass that you will fill during the Unity Ceremony. Choose the kit that includes sand that I provide or the kit allowing you to use your own sand. When using your own sand the running time cannot be guaranteed and will be random.

I stumbled across your site while considering how to incorporate a version of the unity ceremony into our outdoor wedding. I was wondering how long it takes to receive the Sand Ceremony Kit once ordered? How does a couple keep the glass standing for the ceremony? Is there some sort of stand accompanying the kit? It is generally possible for me to ship Unity Sand Ceremony Kits within a few days from the time that an order is placed.
A stand that will support the glass during the Unity Sand Ceremony is included as part of the kit.
The full list of the things included in the Unity Sand Ceremony Kit is: An empty piece of unmounted hourglass for my 9″ high 309 hourglass case and a stand to support the glass during you Unity Sand Ceremony, a funnel to help while pouring the sand through the open end and a pair of clear plastic bottles filled with pre-sieved natural silica sand – 1 each wheat colored and off white colored.
